Garment part of the Mosaic Collection-02.
Inspired by the theme "Mosaic Art," acrylic glass tiles were used to create shapes with laser cutting and combined with fabric by heating vinyl to keep the tiles in place. The skirt was made with leather and laser cut with attached jump rings to maintain its shape.
At first, I experimented with combining mosaic tiles with nylon plastic fabric. On top of that, I added a thin layer of plastic to hold it in place. I found out about vinyl after discovering and experimenting. Because putting too many tiles next to each other can make the fabric stiffer, it allowed me to find the best way for it to function as a garment. Through this project, I was able to closely learn about the functionality of a garment. Researching the history of Mosaic art and turning it into my own contemporary combination with laser-cut acrylic glass tiles and incorporating it into garment construction has allowed me to learn and try new methods.
