Tae Mong
Date
August 2019
Description
Media: Charcoal on bristol
Size: 18” x 24”
In Korea, pregnant women or their loved ones are known to have conception dreams (tae-mong) before the birth of their infants. These dreams are often telling of what kind of person the infant will grow up to be. When my mom had me, she had a vivid dream of being in a traditional Thai temple and seeing one enormous rose. The abnormally beautiful rose was so large that the temple could barely contain it. While I do not know exactly what kind of person I will grow up to become, my mom’s dream tells me that I will need to break from my boundaries in order to prosper.
